Instituted by Pope Leo XIII on 14 June 1892, the Holy Family Association is an official gathering of Christian families whose specific purpose is to promote the honor, imitation and devotion of the Holy Family in a way that all families might come to model themselves after the Family of Nazareth through an approved form of consecration.
In this way the Association makes its own the constant concern the Church has always shown for the family, and proposes the Holy Family “as the prototype of all Christian families as well as the living Gospel of all the values that today’s families are to live and proclaim.” Whatever the Christian revelation, therefore, has to say about marriage and the family –just as it is proclaimed by the Church’s teaching authority– constitutes the Association’s very foundation.
